Default Nitham ul Islam (The System of Islam)

    Bismillah al-Rahman al-Raheem

    The Path to Iman

Man achieves revival with what he carries in terms of thought about life, the universe and man and about their relationship, as a whole, with what preceded life and what comes after it. Hence, in order for man to revive, it is imperative to radically and comprehensively change his current thought and generate another thought for him, because it is the thought that generates the concepts about things and concentrates them. Man shapes his behaviour in life according to his concepts about it. Hence, manís concepts about a person he likes shapes his behaviour towards that person in contrast with his behaviour towards a person he hates and towards whom he holds concepts of hate, and also in contrast with his behaviour towards a person he neither knows nor does he hold any concepts about him. Hence, human behaviour is linked to manís concepts and when we wish to change the behaviour of the declined man and turn it into elevated behaviour, it is imperative to change his concept first. Allah (swt) says: "Truly Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is within them." T.M.Q. [13-11]

Translation of "Soul" in Nitham Chapter 2

"Accordingly, all actions, be it Khayr or Sharr, occurring within the sphere that dominates man are from Allah (swt). Also, all the attributes of objects and the instincts and organic needs - whether producing Khayr or Sharr - are from Allah (swt). Consequently, a Muslim must believe that al-Qadaa, good and bad, is from Allah (swt). In other words he must believe that the actions beyond his sphere of influence are from Allah. He must also believe that al-Qadar - good or bad - is from Allah (swt) i.e. he must believe that the attributes of things found in their characteristics are from Allah whether those resulting in good or in bad effects and unto which man has no influence. Thus manís lifespan (ajal), provision (rizq), and his soul (nafs) are all from Allah (swt). On the same token, the sexual inclination, and tendency towards ownership found in the instincts of species and survival, and thirst and hunger found in the organic needs, are all established in man by Allah (swt)."

This quote is taken from Nitham (Chapter 2) which translates "soul" as "nafs" and not (ruh), this is not a mistake but a more profound translation in line with party's culture and definition of "spirit" not in the sense of "secret of life" but more so to do with man "perceiving the link with Allah". The paragraph from Nitham explains those attributes found in man are from Allah (swt) and not from man. Furthermore if "Soul" were to be translated as "ruh" then it would contradict our definition of it because the concept of spirit has been explained as an "extrinsic quality" that man acquires and not born with it.

I hope it makes sense InshaAllah

Hence, the profound enlightened outlook towards the universe, life and man Ė in the sense of the spirit being the perception of the link with Allah, not in the sense of the spirit being the secret of life - reveals that they are merely matter and not spirit, nor are they composed of matter and spirit. The fact that they are matter is evident and manifest because they are perceived and palpable. The fact that they are not spirit is because the spirit is manís perception of his link with Allah (swt). This perception from man of his link with Allah is neither the universe nor man nor life. It is rather something different from them. The fact that they are not composed of matter and spirit is evident in the universe and in life; as for man, his perception of his link with Allah is not part of his composition, bur rather an extrinsic quality; the proof of this is reflected in the fact that the unbeliever who rejects the existence of Allah does not perceive his link with Allah and despite this he is a human being.
